Hi everyone, I am Thompson sensei. We have been having our friendship with Tomio Daisan School in Nara, Japan since 2011. Harrison School brought the first group of students to Tomio Daisan in 2014. They have both primary school students and high school students like Harrison School. The message below is from the exact text sent from them.
“About Tomio Daisan Elementary and Junior High School
Our school is a combined elementary and junior high school. There are 49 teachers and 671 students all together.
We have a lot of places to go and play, biotope, athletic field, observation pond and so on. Rich nature makes us very calm.
State of our school
The atmosphere of our school is very nice, so the students are very bright. Elementary school students go and play outside at break times. Junior high school students tend to stay inside and spend time leisurely in classrooms.
Events all the students join
We have many events. Some events are for only junior high school students and others are for elementary school students and there are some more events enjoyed by all of the students. The sports day is one of them. We sometimes work together when we have committee activities.
Most of Japanese junior high schools and elementary schools are established separately but our school is not. Therefore, students of our school are very cheerful! “
