School crossing supervisors will commence at 20 crossings adjacent to ACT schools when school returns on 5 February 2018.

Crossing supervisors are being introduced to assist children to cross roads safely and help to improve traffic flow at the busiest crossings in the ACT.

Pedestrians and motorists need to be aware of the new requirements at the 20 crossing sites. Pedestrians will be required to follow the instructions of the supervisor, rather than crossing when they believe it is safe. Motorists will be required to stop when the supervisor holds their stop sign out and enters the crossing.

Crossing supervisors will help to increase safety in school environments and allow more children to use active travel to and from school each day.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a supervisor, email the TCCS Schools Program.

More information about the program, including the list of 20 crossings to receive a supervisor, is available on the Transport Canberra website.
